The painting carries a distinguished modern collecting history, having formed part of the celebrated Asbjørn R. Lunde Collection of Norwegian and Swiss landscape painting. It was exhibited at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, in the landmark 2006 exhibition Alpine Views: Alexandre Calame and the Swiss Landscape, and again at the National Gallery, London, in 2011.
