Michael Bennallack Hart b. b.1941
Signed and dated 2018, this oil by Michael Bennallack Hart (b.1948) shows a landscape at Lourmarin, Provence.
Michael Bennallack Hart was born in 1948 in Sussex and studied at Ravensbourne College of Art in London from 1966–70. He began his career designing and illustrating film posters and record sleeves, and painting landscapes and sports scenes. In the 1970s and 80s he worked as an advertising art director and illustrator, while continuing to paint and exhibiting at the Spectrum Gallery in New York. Since the 1990s he has had a successful career as a landscape painter, exhibiting widely.
Lourmarin, in the Luberon region of Provence, is one of the most celebrated villages of the south of France, and its light and landscape have drawn painters for generations. Collectors of contemporary British landscape painting, and of Bennallack Hart's Provence and Mediterranean subjects specifically, will find this a vivid addition alongside his Corsican and Norfolk coastal scenes.
